Piezoelectric Ceramic Ring

Piezoelectric ceramic components, such as plates, discs or Piezoelectric ceramic rings, convert mechanical signals, such as force, pressure, strain or acceleration, into electrical voltage, or, vice versa, an electrical voltage into mechanical motion or oscillations. The shapes and dimensions of the piezoelectric components can be selected within the limits determined by the tools, although the dimensions depend on each other. The minimum dimensions are determined by physical and technological limits. The thickness or wall thickness, for example, is limited by the mechanical strength of the ceramic during machining.

Piezo ceramic rings have an outer and inner diameter with electrodes applied to both flat surface wih the polarity through the thickness of the part. PZT5A material has high sensitivity, permittivity, and time stability in applications when used as the receiver or generator element in vibration pickups and hydrophones. Applications included flaw and level sensing and medical Doppler transducer.
