The Application of Piezoelectric Ceramic

Piezoelectric ceramics can be applied in many fields, such as cleaning, welding industry, beauty industry, non-destructive testing and medical industry.

In the medical industry, piezoelectric ceramics  can be used for surgical knives. A composite transducer consisting of several small piezoelectric ceramic rings oscillates in resonance at frequencies between 20KHz and 80KHz. This causes a small scalpel blade in a medical tool to vibrate, allowing the surgeon to perform minutely small, very precise cuts using substantially less cutting force and without damaging surrounding tissue. And  plaque removal also used piezoelectric ceramics.  A composite transducer consisting of two to eight small piezoelectric ceramics rings oscillates in resonance at frequencies between 20KHz and 80KHz and drives a dental medical tool in the form of a small scraper frequency of the tool at very small amplitudes (in the µm range) makes it possible to thoroughly remove plaque without damaging the tooth.

Marine technology makes a good use of piezoelectric ceramics , for example, marine detection, hydrophones, sonar, and echo sounders and fish finders. The applications for sonar system range from single small transducers for pleasure craft to professional systems in large ships that detect water depth and schools of fish. Piezoelectric ceramics transmitters with varying geometries that cover a frequency range of 5KHz to 10 MHz are used in the different systems. Some systems use the same piezoelectric ceramics transducers for transmitting and receiving. Others use different ceramic transducer for transmitting and receiving.
