Piezoelectric ceramic components are ceramic plates for making sound and are used in many industries. The principle of how it works is not really complicated. It mainly uses the reversibility of electrical effects and then applies an audio voltage to cause vibration and sound. The software can also generate voltages and currents if it is kept under pressure. From the current state of technology, piezoelectric ceramic components are basically operated manually during testing, but with the continuous development of technology, automatic testing devices are produced which can solve the above problems. In the following, I will present the methods and advantages of testing piezoelectric ceramic components.

1.What Are the Advantages of Piezoelectric Ceramic Component?

The piezoelectric ceramic component is widely used in many regions because of its advantages. These advantages make our tests easier to handle. Their simple construction, lightweight and high sensitivity have led to their particularly rapid development. In addition to the advantages mentioned above, piezoelectric ceramic elements also reduce costs because they consume less power and do not require copper wires or magnets.

2.The Reasons For Recognition

The reasons why any product that ends up being widely used and recognised by various industries are actually manifold. Above we have described some of the advantages of piezoelectric ceramic components, but there are two obvious advantages. One is the ease of maintenance after normal use, and the other is the ease of doing mass production. It is due to these advantages that piezoelectric ceramic components have been recognised by the industry and have continued to develop in this field.

3.Testing Methods

  • The range switch of the multimeter to DC voltage 2.5V block, the left thumb and index finger gently pinch the two sides of the piezoelectric ceramic sheet, the right-hand holds the multimeter meter, the red meter pen connected to the metal sheet, the black meter pen across the ceramic surface, and then the left hand slightly hard pressure, followed by a loose, so that the piezoelectric ceramic sheet on the two polarities opposite voltage signal, so that the multimeter pointer first to the right, then back to zero, followed by To the left, the swing amplitude of about 0.1 a 0.15V, the larger the swing, the higher the sensitivity. If the multimeter pointer is stationary, it means that the internal leakage or broken.

  • Remember not to pinch the piezoelectric piece with wet hands, test the multimeter can not use the AC voltage block, otherwise, the pointer swing can not be observed, and the best test before the R × l0k block, the insulation resistance should be measured at infinity.

  • Use the R x 10k stop to measure the resistance of the two poles, which should be ∞ when normal, then gently tap the ceramic tile, the pointer should swing slightly, we need to set the switch of the multimeter to DC voltage 2.5, then gently pinch the sides of the tile with your fingers. On the other hand, attach the red pen to the metal plate and place the black pen on the surface of the tile. The greater the oscillation, the greater the sensitivity. On the other hand, if the pointer does not move, there may be leakage or damage inside the piezoelectric ceramic element.

4.The Development of Piezoelectric Ceramic Components

The "piezoelectric effect" was discovered in 1880, the first piezoelectric ceramic materials were manufactured in 1942, followed by the first piezoelectric ceramics in 1947, so piezoelectric ceramic components have a long history of development. In the early 1950s, piezoelectric ceramic components entered a new process of development, and until today, there have been continuous breakthroughs in the production technology of piezoelectric ceramic components.

This is a brief introduction to the development, advantages and testing methods of piezoelectric ceramic components. We believe that you have a preliminary understanding of piezoelectric ceramic components, and we also believe that through the application of nanotechnology, the manufacturing technology of piezoelectric ceramic components will step up to a higher level.
